内容記述 To elucidate its role in seizure propagation during a kindling protocol, we monitored seizure-related changes in extracellular hippocampal gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) concentrations in brain dialysates at two times during the development of amygdaloid kindling. Brain dialysates were collected over 5 min periods from 10 min before to 90 min after stimuli at stage 3 (C-3), and on the fifth consecutive day of stage 5 (5*C-5). During each survey, extracellular GABA concentrations increased gradually to be plateau at 15-20 min that lasted for several hours after stimulus. GABA increase were about 50% over baseline at the partially kindled stage, and 150% at the fully kindled stage. These changes of extracellular hippocampal GABA space were similar in both hemispheres. Amygdaloid kindling is thus accompanied by a repetitive and progressive stimulusinduced increase in extracellular GABA levels in the ventral hippocampi lasts for several hours after stimulation.
