内容記述 This study aims to investigate electrical energy use, characteristics and energy conservation opportunities in Thai Rice Mills. The study focuses on 5 mills. The data about each building, such as building materials, layout, single line diagram etc. were collected. Surveys were made on occupants' behavior and installed equipment, together with measurements on power connection, consumptions in lighting systems and other electric equipment. There were 5 Thai Rice Mills in the northeastern region of Thailand which participated in this research. The system of the Thai Rice Mills was analyzed and arranged for measuring and recording the energy consumption by the main equipment. Calculations were subsequently made to estimate the energy consumption in each process of rice production. The most of electrical energy in the Thai Rice Mills was from electric motor loads in the range between 80 – 85 percent of all energy consumptions. To reduce the cost of electrical energy, the demand in electrical charge was one of the factors which affected electrical energy prices. In order to maintain the low demand in electrical charge, the devices which required high energy consumption had to be operated at different time to reduce the demand peak in electrical charge without affecting production process.
