内容記述 Most of the livestock manure generated by the livestock industry ins composted. In areas where livestock production is active, the amount of livestock manure produced is also high, and therefore the production of cattle manure compost is also high. However, if there is not enough farmland in the region to meet the production volume, surplus compost is generated. In such areas, excessive application of manure to farmland and application to idle cultivated land are likely to occur. Nitrogen components applied as compost and chemical fertilizers leach out into the ground due to rainfall and other factors. If a large amount of nitrogen is transferred to groundwate, it may cause nitrate-nitrogen pollution of groundwater and eutrophication of the aquatic environment, so efficient nitrogen fertilizer application is required from both environmental and cultivation perspectives.
In this study, two lysimeters were used to evaluate the yield and nitrate-nitrogen leaching of Italian ryegrass, a forage crop, grown in soils treated with chemical fertilizer and cattle manure, respectively.
The results showed that nitrate-nitrogen leaching of lysimeter with cattle manure was suppressed to 56% of that with chemical fertilizer. Similarly, nitrate-nitrogen leaching per kg of dry matter yield of cattle manure-applied lysimeter was also reduced to 54% of that of chemical fertilizer. Even if the environmental impact is reduced by changing the nitrogen fertilizer application method, it would be difficult for farmers to make a choice if the yield is reduced, but the results of this study suggest that the same level of yield can be obtained by changing the application method from chemical fertilizer to cattle manure. In addition, the environmental impact was reduced to about half, and environment.al efficiency was also improved. These results suggest that it would be beneficial to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, whose prices are rising, and to promote the effective use oflocal surplus compost in the cultivation of ltalian ryegrass as a forage crop.
Regional Environmental System laboratory will continue to study the cultivation of forage crops using lysimeters and its environmental impact, and will continue to conduct research to obtain more practical knowledge.
