内容記述 | The effect of tooth surface-finishing on the surface durability of surface-hardened gears was investigated from the viewpoint of gear-manufacturing methods and load carrying capacity. First, the accuracy and tooth surface roughness of gears finished by various methods ( hobbing ,skiving・・・finish-hobbing with a cemented carbide tipped hob, honing with a screw-type hone, polishing with a buffing wheel and grinding) were studied in detail. Second, the load-carrying capacities of these gears were investigated by using a power circulating-type gear testing machine. Third, the tooth surface failures of the various finished gears were examined with a scanning electron microscope. The following results are obtained; (1) The tooth surface of finished gears consist of many different asperities. (2) In the surface-hardened gears with rough tooth surface, the surface failures ‘’grey-staining, pitting, spalling’’ occur under a heavy load. (3) The conditions of tooth surface (roughness and machining marks) have the greatest influence on the phenomenon of ‘’grey-staining ‘’. | |||||||
