内容記述 | In order to improve the tooth surface texture and to obtain the high surface durability of automotive power transmission gears, the tooth surface-finishing method using the volcanic-ashes was developed. In this paper, the tooth surface textures of hobbed gears, shaved gears and finish-hobbed gears were compared with that of surface-finished gears which were manufactured by using the volcanic-ashes. First, tooth surface of test gears was observed by using a stereoscopic microscope and a scanning electron microscopy. Secondly, surface roughness and hardness of test gear tooth were measured with the use of a surface texture measuring instrument and a penetrometer. From these experiments, the following results are obtained: The profile curves of hobbed and shaved gears consist of many random asperities. On the other hand, surface-finished and finish-hobbed gears have a tendency that the distribution of asperity heights is uniform. The parameters (Rt, Rz, etc.) of surface profile become smaller in the order, hobbed gears, shaved gears, surface-finished gears and finish-hobbed gears. In hobbed and shaved gears, the soft region observed quite near surface. When the surface is finished after case-hardening, no decrease of surface hardness is observed. Therefore, it is found that the tooth surface-finishing method by using the volcanic-ashes is advantageous manufacturing process from the viewpoint of surface texture and surface hardness. | |||||||||||
