内容記述 This paper aims to elucidate the actual state of training and coaching systems within the workplace as the environment to support professional development, as well as technology teachers' self-assessment and motivation related to their expertise, in order to consider the ideal way of technology education. The authors conducted surveys involving teachers who are currently in charge of technology education at junior high schools in Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, Shiga Prefecture, Ishikawa Prefecture, and Miyazaki Prefecture, as well as at attached junior high schools in Japan, on the subject of the expertise of technology teachers and the relevant environment.
As a result of the analyses and consideration, with respect to “technology syllabus planning" and “technology classroom practice," a significant difference was discernible between new teachers and mid-career/veteran teachers. In addition, it was found that mid-career and veteran teachers have higher self-assessment of the abilities required for technology teachers than do new teachers. This indicates that there must be created a mechanism for new teachers to obtain role models in the subject.
