内容記述 To recycle the by-products of silica as well as to moderate the heat island phenomenon, a porous ceramic made by mixing silica powder with clay before firing the mixturewas produced, and using the high water absorption capacity of the ceramic, a greening material where the porous ceramic wascovered with moss, was also produced. To examine the solar radiant heat reducing effect of the greening material, the surface temperatures of a moss-covered sample, a porous ceramic sample without moss and a mortar sample without moss in water-saturated states were measured.To clarify the difference in temperaturereducing ability by evaporation heat on each sample, the amount of water evaporated from samples that had absorbed water was also measured at the same time. From the results,the rates of heat-absorption from the samples by water evaporation were estimated.In addition, the temperaturereducing effect by evaporation heat of the sample during absorbing water was verified quantitatively by thermal conductivity analysis using finite element methods. The results confirmed the usefulness of the moss greening material.
