To prevent such leakages, we proposed and developed a function for tracing diffusion of classified information by using a virtual machine monitor (VMM). This function allows the determination of the classified information location and detects leakage of the information. In addition, this function is without modification of the guest OS's source code because this function is introduced in VMM. Moreover, it is more difficult for attacks to target this function because the VMM is isolated from the guest OS. The tracing function hooks a system call in guest OS and judges whether the hooked system call is related to the diffusion of classified information. However, if the tracing function induces processing of large overhead, introduction of this function may degrade performance of a CPU. One of the overhead is the process for file path detection.
