In recent years, salt damage has been reported in the electric power field. In order to alleviate these damage, application of polymer material has attracted attention. However, there are many unexplained phenomena of the degradation mechanism even against salt pollution. In order to evaluate the influence of polymer damage due to salt pollution, we conducted a salt fog aging test with using silicone rubber samples. Thereafter, a flashover test was conducted to evaluate the resistance of SiR.
