This study investigated IHL's association with adolescents' susceptibility to future smoking.\nMaterials and methods: We conducted a school-based cross-sectional study of Japanese students enrolled in public junior high school, grades 7–9 (n=1937), who completed a self-report questionnaire. Variables were grade, gender, media exposure [television (TV), internet, and magazines], IHL (interest in learning about health, understanding what they hear about health, trying to follow what is taught about health), and susceptibility to future smoking.\nResults: Significant findings were: [1] media exposure was positively associated with adolescents' susceptibility to future smoking (TV: p<0.01, internet: p<0.01, magazines: p<0.01); [2] IHL was negatively associated with adolescents' susceptibility to future smoking (interest in learning about health: p<0.001; understanding what they hear about health: p<0.05; trying to follow what is taught about health: p<0.001). IHL's influence on susceptibility to future smoking was found to be marginally stronger than that of media exposure.\nConclusion: School health-education programs that promote adolescents' IHL may effectively reduce adolescents' susceptibility to future smoking.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10001_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"Walter de Gruyter","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_10001_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"21910278","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_10001_version_type_20":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_be7fb7dd8ff6fe43","subitem_version_type":"NA"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"metadata only access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cb"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNameIdentifiers":[{"affiliationNameIdentifierScheme":"ISNI","affiliationNameIdentifierURI":"http://www.isni.org/isni/"}],"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationNameLang":"ja"}]}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"須藤, 章","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"スドウ, アキラ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"},{"creatorName":"Sudo, Akira","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"familyNames":[{},{},{}],"givenNames":[{},{},{}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNameIdentifiers":[{"affiliationNameIdentifierScheme":"ISNI","affiliationNameIdentifierURI":"http://www.isni.org/isni/"}],"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationNameLang":"ja"}]}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kuroda, Yoshiki","creatorNameLang":"en"},{"creatorName":"黒田, 嘉紀","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"クロダ, ヨシキ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"familyNames":[{},{},{}],"givenNames":[{},{},{}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{}]}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"health literacy, mass media, smoking","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Media exposure, interactive health literacy, and adolescents' susceptibility to future smoking","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Media exposure, interactive health literacy, and adolescents' susceptibility to future smoking","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10001","owner":"5","path":["76","64"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2020-06-21"},"publish_date":"2020-06-21","publish_status":"0","recid":"4926","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Media exposure, interactive health literacy, and adolescents' susceptibility to future smoking"],"weko_creator_id":"5","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2024-01-29T07:23:23.417984+00:00"}
