Seven nurses who experienced the process and became nursing administrators were asked to participate in semi-structured interviews, following which the data was analyzed using the modified grounded theory approach. As a result of the analysis, six determining factors pertinent to becoming a nursing administrator, with thirteen sub-factors, were identified. The six factors were as follows: as in-service nurses they tried to 1) strengthen the “team power of cooperation n" and 2) display a “readiness for nursing" leading to 3) a “realization of nursing goals based on their own initiative" . They then became conscious of the choice of becoming a nursing administrator during 4) the “career and life stage" transition. Based on their 5) “timing" they moved consciously to become nursing administrators with 6) the immediate manager's support and “family support". The results suggested that experiences to motivate the idea of becoming a nursing administrator, as well as support for overcoming hurdles on their own initiative, are necessary in order to develop a quality nursing administrator.}, pages = {1--11}, title = {看護師のキャリア開発において看護管理者になるという選択に向かわせる要因}, volume = {13}, year = {2015}, yomi = {ヒダカ, マミコ and ツルタ, クルミ and ナガトモ, ミユキ and ナガトモ, ミユキ} }
