| 内容記述 | A study was made on the effect of rate of growth on the muscle growth and fat deposition in Holstein male calves. Each three calves with fast growth (1.28kg per day of age) and slow growth (1.02kg per day of age) were killed at a constant body weight of 180 kg, and the right side carcasses were separated into tissues of muscle, fat, bone, tendon, ligament and kidney by the method of Butterfield and May. There was no significant difference between two groups in total weight of muscle tissue in 47.29 kg side carcass. Rate of growth had no significant effect on the weight of nine standard muscle groups. Of thirty individual muscles the muscles of rectus femoris and transversus abdominis were affected by rate of growth, the calves with fast growth were lighter and heavier than the calves with slow growth in the weights of the rectus femoris and transversus muscles, respectively. Rate of growth had no significant effect on the fat deposition, although the calves with fast growth were heavier in the average weight of total fat tissue than the calves with slow growth |
