内容記述 | Recently, sediment disasters from typhoons or concentrated heavy rains have been reported. To mitigate the impacts of such disasters, concrete check dams are widely used. Placing a buffer layer in front of a concrete check dam is an effective solution to expand its service life. On the other hand, a huge eruption of Mt. Shinmoedake, on the border between Miyazaki and Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, occurred in January 2011. Utilization of such volcanic ejection as volcanic ash and pumice into composite materials would be effective not only for resource circulation, but also to mitigate sediment disasters in mountain regions. In this study, mechanical properties of concrete utilizing volcanic pumice as coarse aggregate for buffer material were experimentally investigated. Firstly, basic properties of concrete such as compressive strength, dynamic and static modulus of elasticity and stress-strain curve were determined. Based on the results, impact tests were performed. Experimental factors were types of aggregate, water-to-cement ratio, thickness of buffer layer and impact velocity. Test results show that the buffer layer utilizing volcanic pumice as coarse aggregate has an excellent shock absorbing ability, regardless of the impact velocity and thickness of specimen. |
