A series of tests were performed to evaluate its effects on body weight, effects on enterobacteria, and processing of urine. Increase in body weight was noted on the animals raised with the feed containing polysaccharide at 0.1 % (v/v) to 1.0% (v/v) (test animals) compared with those raised with the feed without polysaccharide (control), resulting in increase of 5 kg at 0.1 % and 8 kg at 0.2 %, respectively. As to effects on enterobacteria, a marked increase of lactic acid bacteria was noted on those raised with the feed containing polysaccharide, while a number of other microbes (2.8 X 10^8 - 4.0 X 10^8) were always maintained on the same level. When effects on urine discharged from the animals raised with the feed containing polysaccharide or not were tested, the number of E. coli in urine of the animals was 4.1 X 10^4/ml in those with addition, and 5.2 X 10^4/ml without addition of polysaccharide, respectively. However, when 1 % (v/ v) of polysaccharide was added to urine of each group together with 0.1 % of aluminium sulfate (w/v), almost all E. coli was agglutinated to precipitate in both groups, while at 0.5 % (v / v) it wa 6.3 X 10^3/ml without addition, and 1.3 X 10^2/ml with addition of polysaccharide. Further, COD of urine obtained from these groups was 7.1 X 10^2 and 8.5 X 10^2 ppm, with and without polysaccharide respectively. In case when at 0.5 % (v/v), COD decreased by 60 % in the former and by 28 % in the latter, and upon addition at 1 % (v / v) it decreased by 50 % and 76 %, respectively. It is considered that since possibly polysaccharide contained in the feed is excreted in fece, processing of urine can be performed economically with less amount of additional polysaccharide culture liquid, when the animals are raised with the feed containing polysaccharide.\nBy addition of polysaccharide culture liquid to the formulation given to pigs, enterobacterial flora, specially of lactic acid bacteria, can be increased, which results in marked increase of their body weight. It greatly contributes to the improvement of productivity, being effective on urine processing with polysaccharide. It is ,therefore, suggesed that addition of polysaccharide culture liquid to the feed is an effective method for raising pigs and for processing of their FERM-P4257の産生する多糖培養液を添加した配合飼料を子豚に給餌し,その体重増加,腸内細菌への影響及びその豚尿処理について試験した. その結果増体重量は多糖無添加飼料(対照区)のものに対して0.1% (v/v),1.0% (v/v)の多糖添加飼料区(試験区)はいずれも体重増加がみられ,本多糖培養液の0.1%添加飼料は5kg, 0.2%添加飼料では8kgの体重増加が認められた. 腸内細菌への影響について多糖添加飼料飼育では顕著な乳酸菌の増加がみられた. 又,他の菌体数では終始同一レベルが維持されていた. 次に多糖添加飼料と無添加飼料で飼育した豚尿排水の処理への影響を調た. 両者の豚尿中の大腸菌数は多糖添加飼料区が4.1×10^4 /ml, 無添加区が5.2×10^4 /ml であったが,この豚尿に多糖培養液をそれぞれ1.0% (v/v)と硫酸アルミニウム0.1% (w/v)を添加すると両者ともほとんどの大腸菌が凝集沈殿したが, 0.5% (v/v)添加では大腸菌数が多糖無添加区が6.3×10^3 /mlに対し, 添加区は1.3×10^2 /ml であった. 更に両者からの豚尿のCODは多糖無添加飼料区が8.5×10^2 ppm, 添加飼料区は7.1×10^2 ppmであったが, 多糖培養液を0.5% (v/v)添加して処理した場合のCOD減少率は多糖無添加飼料区が28%に対して, 添加飼料区は60%の減少率で, 1.0% (v/v)添加の場合はそれぞれ50%と76%の減少率であった. この事は多糖添加飼料で飼育した場合, 糞便中に多糖が排出されている可能性が考えられ, 多糖添加飼料で飼育すると,それからの豚尿排水処理も多糖培養液が少くてすみ, 経済的効果もある筈である. \n本多糖培養液を配合飼料に添加して飼育することにより, 豚の腸内菌叢, 特に乳酸菌が増加し, 又, 顕著な体重増加があり, その生産性の向上に寄与でき, 更に多糖培養液による豚尿排水処理についても効果的であり, 本多糖は養豚において多糖培養液添加による飼育, 又,
