Schumach)は,生産性の高さから,飼料作物としての用途に加えてバイオエタノール原料や重金属に対するファイトレメディエーション機能が検討されている.本草種の効率的な栄養苗生産方法が確立されておらず,栽培上のネックとなっている.そこで本研究ではセル-トレイによるネピアグラスの栄養苗生産技術を適用して,栄養苗の生産時期の影響,品種間差および栄養苗出荷前の剪葉処理の影響を検討し,効率的な苗増殖技術を確立することを目的とした.苗生産は圃場で成育した母本を11月に(以下秋苗と称する),およびポット栽培した母本を温室内で越冬させた後の3~4月に(春苗)各々苗生産を行った.従前のように5月に株分けした再生茎から採取した苗(従来苗)を対照とした.供試品種は,秋苗では矮性晩生品種(dwarf-late,以下DL) および普通品種のWruk wona(WK),春苗ではDL,矮性早生品種(dwarf-early,以下DE),WK,および普通品種のMerkeron(ME),従来苗ではDLとした(実験1).実験2では栄養苗植え付け後の定着促進・苗質の向上を目的とし,実験1で生産された秋苗のDLとWKを供試し2011年4月16日に地上5cm高で剪葉した区(剪葉区) と無処理の対照区を各々3反復設け,処理38日後の5月24日に草丈,茎数,乾物重を調査した.栄養苗の生産時間(人・分/本)は,従来苗のDLが1.40と有意に高く,秋・春苗では0.20-0.48と約1/7-1/3に低下し,春苗のDLで最も省力的であった.苗の増殖効率はDLを除いた春苗で概して低下し,これは腋芽が分げつに伸長しやすく,苗生産可能な腋芽数が減少したことによると推察されるが,従来法に比べると有意に増加した。セル-トレイ植え付け45(春苗)~47(秋苗) 日後の萌芽率は,秋苗では54-55%と低くなったのに対し,春苗では82-95%でいずれも高くなった.今後の課題としては,秋苗では萌芽率が低く栄養苗の生育が不揃いとなりやすいこと,越冬期間に温室内の苗管理を長期間要すること,母茎が硬く節間の切り分けが多労なことが挙げられる.一方春苗では,母茎が柔らかく切り分けが容易で,萌芽率が高いこと,栄養苗の管理期間が短いなどの利点があるが,増殖効率の向上が課題である.剪葉処理によりDL,WKともに栄養苗の乾物重が有意に減少(P<0.05)
