| 内容記述 | In the case of fatigue breakage, fatigue life of a machine element such as gear can be divided as crack initiation life and crack growth life, and the former usually takes a great part in the fatigue period. The estimation of the crack initiation life and the evaluation of the effects of surface situation and surface finishing process on the crack initiation will be extremely important in the fatigue strength evaluation. This research presents a method to detect the initiation of a fatigue crack using a very thin ion sputtered metal film. Three-point bending tests were performed, and the initiations of micro-cracks of about 0.4mm length at the bottom of notch of the bending specimens were detected successfully, and it is also clarified that the crack initiation life takes 80-90% of the total fatigue life for acryl specimens. | |||||
