On the outer surface of the heart, the shallow sulcus terminalis was seen at the junction of the heart with the right anterior vena cava and posterior vena cava. At the sinuatrial orifice two sinuatrial valves were present, and a sinus septum was observed at the bottom of postcaval orifice. The sinuatrial valve and sinus septum were thin muscular folds (or ridges).
