 note = {The total area size of tidal flats in Miyazaki prefecture was estimated from the image analysis on the public aerial photograph supplied by the Geographical Survey Institute, Japan. Fluctuating unnaturally, the total size was recorded as 193 ha in 1978, 42 ha in 1984 and 640 ha in 1998 in a series of national survey on the natural environment by the Ministry of Environment (or Environment Agency before 2001). Our estimation of the total area size was 402.7 ha including about 100 ha of foreshore flats and about 300 ha of river mouth estuary flats., 宮崎県の総干潟面積は, 1978年193ha, 1984年42ha, 1998年640ha と記録されており, 明らかに調査精度や統計方法に問題があることがわかっていた. そこで, 過去11年の現地調査の知見を前提に, 公開されている航空写真の解析から, 県内全域の干潟面積の推定を行った. その結果, 宮崎県全域では, 干潟干出域が402.7ha となり, 前浜干潟が約100ha で, 河口および潟湖干潟が約300 ha であった. 環境省や委託先による報告には信憑性の低い数値もあり, 各地域の環境保全の促進を目的に, 全国レベルでも本研究と同様の見直しが必要であると考えられた.},
