The photonic crystal structure is one of the candidates from the practical point of \nview. In this paper, the lightwave transmission and coupling in the nonlinear photonic crystal \nwaveguides is examined by the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The 2nd Mur \nabsorbing boundary condition is applied. The structure to be considered is pillar type directional \ncoupler. The nonlinearity is assumed to be of the Kerr-type, whose relative dielectric constant \ndepends on the light intensity. Since the resonance frequency and the coupling length are changed \ndue to the input light intensity, the optical switching can be observed.
