The airflow is driven by an array of fans (9 rows X 11\ncolumns), each of which is independently controlled by a computer. Since a barrier is representative\nof the elements for generating turbulent boundary layers, the characteristics of turbulence induced by\na barrier are set to the target. A new driving mode is devised, where all the fans are driven steadily,\nwithout active control. To provide strong shear, a row of fans at the bottom are driven in the counter\ndirection, while the rest of fans driven in the normal direction tuned to realize the target\ncharacteristics. The simulated flow reproduces most of the characteristics of the target boundary\nlayer, such as profiles of mean velocity, turbulence intensity, integral scale, and Reynolds
