The airflow is driven by an array of fans (11 rows x 9 columns), each of which is independently controlled by a computer. To efficiently obtain the average flow speed profile similar to the planetary boundary layer, we devise a spire especially for the cases without roughness and regard the resulting turbulence as a target.
