There are a lot of styles of hula. In general, they are divided into two broad categories : One is the ancient hula. It is called `kahiko'. It is accompanied by chant and traditional instruments. The other is the modern hula. It is the hula as it evolved under Western influence, in the 19th and 20th centuries, and is called `auana'. It is accompanied by song and Western-influenced musical instruments such as the steel guitar, the `ukulele', and so forth. Moreover, costumes play a role in illustrating the hula instructor's interpretation of the `mele' (i.e. the chant or song) in the case of `auana'. Women generally were skirts or dresses. On the other hand, men wear long or short pants, skirts, or a `malo' (i.e. a cloth wrapped under and around the crotch). Especially, for slow, graceful dances, the dancers will wear formal clothing such as a `muumuu' for women and a sash for men. Recently, a healthy boom occurs, and hula is popular in Japan. Selection of costumes is one of the pleasure for dancers. However, designing dresses for hula is difficult for dancers who have no knowledge about design. In this paper, we investigate about development of software for designing hula dresses, and show our first experimental program which we can easily design hula dresses by using Visual Basic 2005.}, pages = {311--316}, title = {フラダンス衣装用デザインプログラム作成の試み}, volume = {37}, year = {2008}, yomi = {カジサ, カオル and サカモト, マコト and カジサ, カオル} }
