The problem of deterioration in the fuel cells are \"Durability of MEA\", \"Dissolution of platinum in catalyst\" and \"Surface corrosion of separator\" etc. Then, the author paid attention to the deterioration of MEA. The purpose of this paper is elucidation of the heat deterioration mechanism of MEA. The film was heated with a hot press by four patterns of Normal,80℃ 100℃, 130℃,and 150℃,and with a electric heating furnace by five patterns of 100℃, 150℃ ,200℃, 250℃,and 300℃. And, MEA was analyzed by using XPS. Consequently, when an electric furnace is used above 250℃, and a hot press is used above 130℃,sulfur elem ents decrease in number. It is considered that thermal cracking was caused by the sulfur element cluster. As a result of destroying a cluster, the degree of ion migration fell. It turned out that this led to the output
