This paper proposes a method to judge automatically if a product contains undesirable materials. Firstly, a CCD camera obtains pictures of the product laid on a platform under an LED array. Secondly, the pictures are processed to purge shades and noises for higher discrimination. Lastly, wheather it contains extraneous materials or not is easily judged comparing with a certain threshold value.
