The river \nimprovement works were executed in order to preserve the rich nature of the Kita River. \nEnvironment after the works was monitored in long term observations. We monitored \nconcerning the change of the sand bar. According to the results, the vegetation had recovered \nlittle by little on the sand bar. But, in a flood due to the typhoon 0423, the vegetation of the \nsand bar was again destroyed. In this research, change of physical environment on the sand bar \nwas examined. As a result, it was clarified that vegetation destruction was different in the \nKawasaka sand bar and the Motomura sand bar. On the Kawasaka sandbar, the vegetation was \ndestroyed by the accumulation of sand and gravel in the whole sand bar.
