Yield of the wood-vinegar was \nincreased by treatment with aqueous acetic acid, and yields of the wood-tar and the charcoal \nwere decreased. Eleven components in the wood-vinegar were determined by capillary gas \nchromatography (capillary GC). Amounts of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde and 2-\nfuraldehyde in the wood-vinegar were increased after the acid treatment, but amounts of \ncarboxylic acids, phenols, pyrocatechol, guaiacols, and maltol were almost constant. \nA mixture of sugi sapwood and charcoal as an additive was carbonized at 400 ℃ for 1h \nunder nitrogen gas. Amounts of acetic acid and propionic acid in the wood-vinegar were \nincreased with the increase in charcoal amount.
