Natural science","bibliographic_titleLang":"en"}]}]},"item_10002_description_5":{"attribute_name":"抄録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"A sensitive method for the spectrophotometric determination of zirconium with \nXylenol Orange (XO) is described.\n Zirconium reacts with XO at pH 2.1 to form red-colored chelate, which shows an absorption maximum at 553 nm and has a molar extinction coefficient of 11.6 x 10 4 cm2 mole-1. Beer's law was obeyed over the concentration range 10-70 μg Zr/50 ml (10 mm quartz cell).\n An investigation was undertaken to eliminate the interferences from other metal ions, including Al, Ga, In, TI, Sc, V(V), Fe(III), Cu, Nb(III), Mo, Hf, Ta(V), W, Sn(II), Bi and Th. Among these metal ions, iron and thorium are masked with ascorbic acid and sulphate respectively. The interference from vanadium can be eliminated by the addition of α-picolinic acid. For bismuth and copper, L-cysteine is an effective masking reagent. Inhibiting effect due to the fluoride is found to be prevented by the addition of beryllium solution as demasking reagent.\n Thus a recommended procedure is as follows; An aliquot of standard zirconium solution containing less than 70 μg is transfered to a 100 ml-tall beaker and 1 ml of 1% Tiron is added to prevent the hydrolysis of zirconium. Then 1 ml of 0.05 M α-picolinic acid, 1 ml of 1% L-cysteine and about 30 mg of ascorbic acid are added successively. After the addition of 2 ml of 0.02 M sodium sulfate and 1 ml of 0.1% XO, the solution is buffered to pH 2.1 with 5 ml of 1M monochloroacetic acid buffer (with additions of suitable amounts of 0.5 M sodium acetate solution if required) and diluted to about 45 ml with water. The solution is heated till boiling on a heater to accelate the rate of formation of zirconium chelate. After cooling to room temperature, the solution is quantitatively transfered to a 50 ml-volumetric flask and diluted to the mark with water. The absorbance at 553 nm is measured using the reagent blank as the reference solution.\n When the fluoride is present less than 4 mg, 5 ml of 0.1 M beryllium solution is added prior to the addition of XO to prevent the inhibiting effect.
