| 内容記述 | Mongolian nomads regularly consume dairy products, with aaruul, a traditional Mongolian dried curd cheese, being widely consumed among nomadic households. This study aimed to estimate the portion size of aaruul produced by nomadic households using data collected during summer field surveys conducted in 2023 and 2024. Three statistical methods were used to estimate the median weight: order statistics, bootstrap bias-corrected (BC) method, and Bayesian bootstrap method. In the 2024 survey, 14 of the 19 sampling sites had a mean aaruul weight of 20 g or less, and 13 sites had means below 10 g, with most samples concentrated in the 5–10 g range. Combining data from both years (32 locations in total), the median of the average weights was 8.2 g. All three methods yielded similar point estimates in the 8 g range. However, the confidence intervals varied: the bootstrap BC method produced the widest interval (6.1–21.0 g), whereas the Bayesian bootstrap method yielded a somewhat narrower interval (6.0–16.0 g), closely aligning with the order statistics. These findings suggest that, although aaruul weight may vary across households and regions, a median portion size of approximately 8 g may serve as a practical reference. Future research with broader geographic sampling and measurements taken immediately after production is needed to further standardize the portion size estimates for traditional dairy products in Mongolia. |
