Focussing on the geographic\nand physical features and the environmental conditions of this river, research\nwas carried out by staff from four scientific fields (chemistry, biology, earth-\nscience, and physics) and students of the Science Course at Miyazaki university.\nWe integrated the results of our studies to obtain a more realistic and organized\nunderstanding of this river. It appeared that this attempt was successfuI\nin making the students have more interest in environmental problems. Therefore,\nthis study gave us the first step to design useful teaching materials for\nenvironmental education in our
