          <dc:description>Abstract 
The fundamental properties of photonic crystal waveguide consisting of chiral medium are 
examined numerically by the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method. The waveguide 
structure in this report is the two-dimensional air-hole type waveguide. It is shown that the inci-
dent linear polarized lightwave is converted to the circular polarized lightwave. We also examine 
the photonic band gap for the chiral photonic crystal waveguide numerically. The band gaps of 
the right-circularly-polarized (RCP) and the left-circularly-polarized (LCP) waves depend on the 
chirality, and it is found that the band width of RCP is narrower than that of LCP.</dc:description>
