As a method of high efficiecy of an internal combustion engine a gas flow is introduced into a combustion chamber. However, the gas flow in the combustion chamber is not necessarily connected efficient from increasing the cooling loss by the heat transfer between the combustion gas and the combustion chamber wall. Therefore, it is necessary to know the correlation of the gas flow in the cylinder and heat transfer to the combustion chamber wall. When the state of the gas flow in the cylinder is swirl, the equation which can calculate the heat transfer coefficient of the whole combustion chamber from the gas flow within the turbulent flow region is obtained. However, this equation cannot be used when a gas flow is in the low flow velocity region. In this study, the heat flux on the cylinder wall is measured in the low flow velocity region. As a result, the heat transfer coefficient within the low flow velocity region is obtained using the pressure and the volume in the cylinder.
